just found out my 93 has one. was messin around near my fuse box and saw that the wire was pulled out. i plugged it back in and now i have a lil bird in my car that chirps all day long without a single hint of meaning to me. jk, but does anyone know the difference in the two settings? [green or red] and what the different chirps or beeps mean?

SonarRadar SS1000. i would love to know what the beeps clicks and chirps mean..... Look under your rear bumper and you will see the rear module box.....

Company is called K-40. I just sent them an email so they should be getting back to me and I will get back to you.

I couldn't wait so I called them They are sending me a photocopy of the old manual and I will scan and send post it for you.
This is the deal. Its a consealed unit thats supposed to blen into the car. Our system is an analog and is not upgradable to their current all digital systems. They are putting it in the mail today so I should have it by monday. Be patient and we shall be rewarded.

the mailman came but nothing from K-40 I'll wait until tomorrow afternoon and if there is nothing I will call them again.

 

Here is the low down. They didn't tell me what the orange and green means. Here are there chirps

4 chirps = system test. This will sound when you start the car
6 quick chirps (like system test but 6 chirps) = X band radar
clicking tone after 6 quick chirps= in X band radar zone
chirp pause, chirp pause 6 times = K band radar
Clicking tone after chirp pause sequence = K band radar gun

I will ask them what the orange and green means. What the 2 paragraph thing they sent me is the above. This means if it goes off slow down. We have an analog system and this will not protect us from Ka or laser bands. The system that we have is not upgradable to the digital system. We are only protected against X and K bands.... all that fancy chirps and what not for 2 band protection =) but its looks cool.

 

Orange is city mode, green is highway mode!!!!

That's a tough question to answer. If the unit is from 94 or so then it is slightly out dated but still should pick up X, K, Superwide KA and possibly laser as well. I think you have the 700 model if it's from the early 1990's.

It might be set to “highway mode” which is more sensitive to X & K band that's why it's constantly beeping in urban areas. Try setting it to “city mode” with the **** (turning it all the way to the left = counter clockwise) to turn down the X & K frequency.

BTW, it's not an OEM detector. It's after-market.

I dont know if this is even the right place for my question. I have a 1994 LS and right next to the buttons on the instrument cluster that say ODO, TRIP A/B (the ones that change between mileage and the two trips). I have a small green light, it is over to the left of the buttons, what is that light for? I was thinking a radar detector but was never sure?

Where are you finding the display for this radar detector? Does
anyone know if they offered them on the 92 LS. I was wondering
if maybe mine might be equipped. If not, how much is a fairly
decent K40 Radar system? I have heard alot about it, but never
got any information on systems and installation. Help would be

I tried both settings and left it on for 10 minutes each.......never stopped beeping about every 2 seconds.
I would consider this OEM for sure, it has indicator lights built right into our $2000 dash display. I assume it was installed at the factory or dealer add-on, but spec'd by Lexus.

 

i have a 1990 Lexus LS 400...do i have one? lol i want one...anyone know where i could get it?
