Exclamation Help with belt tensionor

my belt tensioner pulley is going bad and needing replacement. which way am i supposed to turn the bolt to get the pulley off?

if im not mistaken its a reverse thread bolt.

Don't quote me on it, but I don't think its reverse thread. In any case, just buy a new pulley and new bolt and take a look at the thread.

its reversed.

my tensioner pulley broke off of my 90 ls400, when i was trying to put the serp belt back on. it wouldnt come lose.

you dont have to take pulley off to remove the tensioner. but i believe the alternator must come out. I havent gotten around to replacing it just yet. Mine was original. I believe your supposed to change it out every timing belt change.

Default Belt Tensioner

Mine broke this past weekend on my 1993 LS4 and we had to unbolt alternator and slide it off before belt tensioner could be removed.

it is a reverse tread....to da left tightens, to da rite loosens
ok, but dont we have to remove da belt to remove altenator. if so, how u gon do dat if da tensioner is broke and u cant get da belt off???
mine went bad yesterday, dude told me to loosen power steerin pump to loosen tension. he was a shade tree tho.
