What do you think of this?
This is a local fellow who is selling this car. I have NEVER seen an LS with a cloth interior...let alone a red cloth.
He's asking $390 for the car.
Worth a look?
What might be wrong with it? The thermostat makes me kind of suspicious of a blown head gasket
1990 Lexus LS400, black with burgandy cloth interior, 176K miles. Sitting in my garage for about 9 months but I do not need it so I did not get it repaired. Can start with a jump but does not hold a charge (alternator). Needs thermostat, tires, fluids flushed, etc. Maybe more - I don't know; I'm not a mechanic. Body basically in good shape for a 20 year old car. Some damage to dash from fallen tree branch that broke windshield which was replaced. You will need to flat bed tow it out of here. This would be a great project for someone familiar with working on Lexus/Toyota or who needs the parts. I do not have pictures as the garage is too dark to get a good picture. If you would like to see the car, please email me for an appointment.
**Clean title**
**Cash only**
**Local buyer only**
**You arrange the tow**
**Serious inquiries only**
Thank you.

I agree. Blown head gaskets are very rare on a LS400... in fact, I have never heard of it before.
If you had of said it was an Acura Legend, Toyota Cressida, or 91-95 4-Runner, I would have said, YES! Those WERE headgasket problems.
Cloth was standard on the LS400s from 1990-92 I think. Rarely equipped though, as most had the leather option. Personally, I would love to find one with blue cloth interior.
$390 - seems fair to me.

i just bought a fixer upper 90 with cloth interior for $400. Mine is white with blue interior, so almost the opposite color combo to your red and black.
Those are UGA colors. You should fix it up and sell it in Athens!
That car prolly needs just a lil tlc to get it runnin good. Actually sound like a better deal than mine! Also even if it does have a BHG the 1uz-fe is super cheap. Nobody needs em cause they dont go bad!
take some pics. buy it! would love to see this car runnin nice. Almost all LS400's deserve to be fixed up. they are mechanical marvels.

Werd.
The only issue is towing it.
I have no cash to tow the damn thing.
But, it might be worth a look.
I asked him if he would be willing to roll it out of his garage and take pics. I mean, I know its a $400 Lexus, so one can't complain. But how do you expect to sell a car without pictures.
Speaking of pictures, does anyone have a pic of a black on burgundy LS?

i was going to type exactly the same thing! if he doesn't have the cash to tow it, he should forget about it. it may seem like a great deal at $300 until he spends $5000 to get it running as good as a $2000 LS.

I have seen a few ls with cloth interiors for sale looks really weird imo. Its worth looking at for 390 but if you cant afford to even tow it might just save your money. Parts can be found at junk yards and on ebay for good prices but still gotta pay labor for someone to do it. If you look at it let us know how it goes.
