Looking for Platinum Edition
I have a 1997 Coach Edition that has been incredible! Not a complaint. Has 180K miles and still does not have a creak or rattle (OK, front suspension creak I believe to be a LCA which is being fixed when timing belt is done).
Am looking at a 2000 Platinum Edition with 50K miles Black on Tan (SE I believe-Nak). They are asking $15500 which I think is Blue Book (Gold?). The car is immaculate.
I also see a number of private sales at less then $10K but not as clean as this one.
Is this in the price range? I am not in a forced purchase.
Comments very much appreciated!

Platinum LS400

Canada prices fluctuate immensely! Depends on area.
Unfortunately we do not have a large selection to choose from. The one I am looking at is in the lower 48.

whoa where did u see that one? i would hop on that one asap since its very low milliage maybe try to knock 1G off the asking price and i'll say its a very good deal. since thier one 2000 black one in edmonton and the guy is asking like $20,000 with 80xxx km on it.

+1 for hopping on this one, if as you described it, it sounds like a great deal, platinum editions are rare, but one with such low miles would be extremely rare. Good Luck

Was the the 2000 LS400 Platinum Series sold in Canada? I thought the similar 2000 LS400 Canadian version was called the Millenium Edition or Millenium Series.
The U.S. version of the Platinum Series with Nakamichi is the SF version -- that's what I have. The versions are described at: http://www.lexus.com/contact/pdf/2000/2000LSspecs.pdf
Be aware that it's getting difficult to get Nakamichi components repaired -- parts supplies are drying up due to the Nakamichi company tanking. My Nak head unit had a problem last year and I was lucky that no parts were needed -- only resolding the balance control. And I'd sure avoid 98-00 LS400's with navigation. If you buy a 98-00 LS400 without nav, at least you will have separate HVAC controls and can slap an aftermarket headunit in -- probably easier to do if the car doesn't have the Nakamichi.

Platinum / Millenium
The Platinum I WAS looking at was a US version therefore the Model designation.
Appreciate the comments on Nakamichi. I had read that before. Definitely worth considering.
As it is the car I looked at two days ago has been sold. "YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE".
Appreciate the feedback from all.
Will keep eyes open and respond more aggressively next time if it is the one. Meanwhile my 1997 Coach is still as good as it gets.
