When i turn on the AC it sometimes stays on and occassionally turns off by just the ac light flashing on and off.I sometimes have to play with the button to make it stay on.When the light flashes the AC is not cold.
My mech claims it could be the amplifier I guess in the dash but I am thinking the whole Ac display Unit in the dash.

Any ideas?

 

Flashing A/C indicator most commonly means the A/C compressor is not turning at the same rate as the engine, or not turning at all. Check the A/C compressor clutch.
