Thumping noise coming from front suspension
Hey all,
A few weeks ago I hit a nasty bump in the road. Ever since I've had a thumping noise coming from the front driver-side. The rim was a tad bit bent so I went ahead and replaced it and put on a new tire. Still, the thumping noise is there. You can physically feel and hear it above speeds of 40, mostly when you are turning or veering right on the freeway, putting the weight transfer on that side of the car.
Any Ideas on what this might be? Is there a joint that I messed up? If so where is it/what is it called?
Thanks!

Well mine is the control arm and my shop said they could get me a used one for like 200.00 then the labor to put it on if I don't do it myself. Most shops will give a free estimate so get them to check it for you before you just order the part. It might be the bushings I'm not sure just giving some advice based on my experiance.

Actually....
.....I just checked their website and they have the UCAs for the 1995-2000 as well!!!!. I have a 2000 and have been dealing with a bad ride problem for a couple years now, right after the front AIR SHOCKS were replaced for a cool $2000!!!! ......anyways after lots and lots and lots of going back to the dealer (they even replaced the shocks once again!!) - dealership never resolved the problem-, and doing tons of research on my own on this, it appears that the shocks/air susp.system may not be to blame after all!! I think it may be worn out bushings!!
I just purchased a 2005 Acura MDX with approx. 37K miles on it and it exhibits a similar pattern. Sometimes the ride is SUPER SMOOTH and other times it's a bit FIRM AND HARSH......and the MDX does not have an "ACTIVE" suspension!!! However, because the problem was INTERMITTENT (on the Lexus and Acura) I could not see how bushings could affect this.
Then on further investigation I read somewhere (on the MDX forums) that depending on temperature and humidity, the old "worn out and aged" rubber could become MORE or LESS "compliant" and a poster there had success changing the swaybar bushings. This seems to make sense. So, I'm hoping changing the control arms will solve the problem.
Can someone tell me if the LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS should be changed as well?? How about the swaybar??
Thanks!
