Default just bought 94 LS400!!

hello fellow lexus owners. just got the car actually ive had it for almost 2 weeks now. i got a great deal on it. i have the cluster problem but the needles still work so i have to drive with a flashlight at night for now lol. i like the vehicle a lot. ive only really had one concern that has happened in the last two days. for some reason the vehicle will not go into reverse when i start it. its like there is something blocking the shifter. i have to use the emerg gear release. once i do that i can go to reverse and drive as i need. a friend of mine told me it may be that i dont have the main key with the keyless entry. i thought maybe i should unhook the batt and see if it restarts. has anyone had this problem before? i tried to do a search but found nothing perhaps i didnt word it correctly. any feedback would be great!

Congratz on your LS.

For the cluster problem its a simple fix with just soldering on a few capacitors (Look at the stickeys)

For the reverse, I'm not sure because I've never heard of that problem but maby some more experienced members can shed some light on this.

Either way enjoy and have fun with the LS, its a fun car.

Probably the shift release is dead. when in P and you step on the brake you should hear a small click at the shifter. If you don't, the shift lock is dead. Not sure how much would need to be replaced to fix it tho.
