Default How to remove badges on bootlid

Gday everyone

Just wondering if anyone has ever removed the badges from the bootlid on there ls400/celsior before.

Not sure how to go about it as i know they have pins in them.

I was thinking doing this trick which involves heating the badge and using fishing line or dental floss to cut away the adhesive between the badge and paint. (see link below) Then removing the lining from inside the boot lid and pushing on the back of the pins to release them altogether.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ve.html?cat=27

If anyone has done this and can offer some advise it would be appreciated.

Thankyou very much.

Hello - I never used a hair dryer but rather dental floss to break the seal between the emblem and trunk lid. It was easy however perhaps the hairdryer would have made it better? For the adhesive, I used goo gone. I did not use a plastic putty knife like some advise - it will most certainly scratch the finish.

To reinstall them you can use double sided tape from an auto parts store.

Good luck

Thanks for the help Steveski much appreciated matey.

One more question though. How did you go about getting the pins out. Did you push them out from the inside of the boot or did you pull them off from the outside.

Thanks again mate your a champ!

Actually the pins are part of the emblem so they should be intact rather than be stuck in the holes in the trunk. When you get them off you will see that there are many of them! Lexus went overboard on the hole situation.

If they break they can be pushed through the back.

Are you guys just leaving the holes open after removing the badges?

Seems like a potentially bad idea with water to me.
