save your money and learn please these additives arent worth the bottles they come in. the most to add would be something like B&G or Lucas fuel injector(fuel system) cleaner.
Parents? How old are you? Can you sit them down and explain to them how your engine is DESIGNED to run on premium. That low octane with allow pre-combustion and knocking.
your knock sensors WILL detect this and retard your timing, so there is no sense in even buying scam octane boosters, however it will do this at a loss in performance and overall efficiency.
Just think that your engine will be running at 85% with regular, rather than 100% with premium.
The thing is, I have a gas card and my parents would kill me if I was caught buying premium. Thus, I don't pump premium, but I would if I could.
Premium Unleaded Fuel Only, it even shows right on your gauge cluster unlike some cars that only have it on the gas cap area. I have a friend who buys regular for his SC and his car got messed up. Like JBrewster said, its only around $5 dollars more expensive than regular.
Um, I'm 17, excuse me for being ignorant. There is no need to be condescending, especially since my parents will TAKE MY CAR AWAY if they find me pumping premium gas, as dumb as that is. Everyone needs to chill out, it was a simple question.

we arent telling you to do it behind their backs, rather try to talk to them and explain the benefits of premium....
im 19, and been here over 3 years so age isnt really an excuse.
I have tried those octane boosters when I was in Mexico, because I would regularly pick up the little bottles of the stuff at my old track. I found very little if any noticeable difference. So much of this has to do with engine timing. I have seen tests done throughout the net and you are lucky to see a .1 difference at all in the 1/4 mile.
I'm not using age as an excuse, jcrome04 asked how old I was. But thank you PD. All I wanted was a simple, polite opinion. I will talk to them again however.
Definitely just have a really mature convo. with them explaining about octane, if it still fails, just pump regular and sass them if it ever needs related repairs lol.
As for price differences in gas..I did a huge write up a long time ago so prices are a little different...i tried searching for it but couldn't really find it, I didn't look too hard though...maybe you or someone else can find it
