Many mentioned about the UL package for the 01LS430, besides the navigation and ML sound, does it also include the air suspension upgrade ?
But I thought I read it some where from the forum to stay away from those suspensions since they can be very costly to replace ?

Mass failure rates?? Ever seen an LS 430 Utra on the floor?? like you see some lincolns, or MB s class?? I didnt think so.
I work in Manhattan, NY, and see many Ultras with 100K miles on them, with no major failures.
Massive failures do not apply to LExus cars. I would still go with a regular LS rather than Ultra, but thats because Id ont see any benefit in riding on air, and I hardly need any headaches, minor or major down the line. The feature is useless unless you carry 3 fat animals in the back at all times.

read my posts, the 1st gen LS air suspension had massive failure rates whereas the LS430's DIDN'T!

I like the idea of a 2000 since it was the last year and therefore the quality and reliability are bulletproof. Plus I am not a huge fan of the first gen 430 versus the second.

Not that the 2001 430 would be prone to break down but it was the first new year for the redesign. That's why I am opting for an 04-07 plus I like the look of it better.

In my mind the LS400 are bullet proof, and there is always that classic look that I love, its the last year model so I am sure all the bugs are fixed, compare to a first year new model for the 2001LS430, but then again I beleive the engine are the same, but we are talking about a whole new look.

Any suggestion or comments are much appreciated !

Thank you,

I know this thread is pretty old but i had the same dilemma when I bought my 2000 LS400. I kept going back and fourth between the 400 and 430,,ultimately I chose the 400 because I just love the timeless styling, it is just about damn bullet proof, maintenance isn't that expensive if done at a non Lexus dealer, and it is just as comfortable to drive as the 430. The 400 doesn't have as much technology as the 430 but I was OK with that as there would be less computer stuff to worry about down the road. The thing that really got me? i just kept thinking the 2001-2004 430's(the years I was looking at) looked like re badged Toyota avalons to me, lol. But seriously, you will also see way more 430's than 400's n the road, especially in near mint condition, crystal pearl metallic like mine. have a good one lady's and gents!
