Default subwoofer replacement in 90

Does anyone have one for purchase its a pioneer system. Its a 8" 6 ohm speaker correct? Is there any aftermarket speakers that will fit and work? Is it hard to change out. Any help please let me know sunfisher302@hotmail.com thx

hey i re did my whole system and still have my old oem nakamichi system one that would fit

still works just fine i took it out when i did my new system to allow the sound from the trunk come through as for price just make me an offer i dont really care. since im not going to use it i havent really looked what there going for anywhere else yet.

Damaging subs by underpower is a myth.

You will need a sub designed for "free air". Buy as large and as high power handling sub as you can afford that physically fits. A large linear excursion will generally have lower distortion at volume.

I replaced the sub in my 1990 last week. All I did was buy a sub with "free air" capability, and it really doesn't matter how powerful it is capable of, and stuck it in the bracket that was originally attached to the pioneer sub I had. All you need to do is dremel or somehow cut the bracket into the shape of the new sub. It took me 20 min. You certainly need an 8" and if you can find one, get the same Kicker used in the Lexls.com tutorial.

The easy way is to get a used or new nakamichi or pioneer that directly fits without modification. I found the aftermarket sub somewhat better than the original pioneer I had (which still works but I threw out.)

Default 90 lexus sub ls400

So if I put in a free air aftermarket sub do I put it in through the trunk or inside vehichle over speaker pannel. I wish Hobojoe would get back to me. Thx for anyones help.

you have to take the rear seat out to access the panel.

read the tutorial...

i USED to love TC Sounds but ever since they went retail and jacked their prices up 2-3times its all gone

Sixdown did you use the factory Pioneer amp on this aftermarket sub? What was the RMS wattage rating on it?

Pretty much any mass-market freeair sub, even from low end places like Best Buy or Circuit City, will be better than the stock sub.

True,.. While lexus factory is better than most 'factory' systems.. you can buy walmart subs that are of better quality. It doesn't sound 'bad' though. However a dedicated sub can do alot more.

I am just asking if the factory pioneer amp is being hooked to this sub, and you are getting a good sound out of it. If so, I could grab an 8inch of my choice, and wire it in , in about 10 minutes and I'm done. With my new headunit I have the sub completely separated on the cross-over. So I can equalize it however I wish. It is just the factory sub is so limited in design that it will start to top out as the song changes. X level might be perfect for the current song, but as it switches to the next.. I might have to back the sub down because I can hear it reaching its limits. With an aftermarket it wouldn't have that problem because it would have plenty of room for that kind of power.

So , again, if an aftermarket sub of relatively low wattage.. ie: 100watts RMS can be popped in the slot off the Pioneer amp , as is,.. That would be fantastic. Buying such a sub online is very inexpensive.
