Default Quick question -- Exhaust tips.

Just have a quick easy question.

My exhaust tips are so dirty that they cannot be cleaned.. so I need to replace them in some manner.

I have examined them and they seem to be welded onto the piping.

Any ideas on how to replace them? I've found some similar exhaust tips at the auto parts store, if I could get these factory tips off.

Hrmm

Have you tried chrome polish/rust remover?? You could also use a little 00 steel wool, it will swirl the chrome a little, but it's just the muffler tip it won't be a big deal.

MY friend wet-sanded his down with 1500 grit sand paper and polished them back up. They look really good.

To answer your question:

Just get a hammer or something similar. Reach under and tap out towards you. Believe me, it will come out but with some persuasion like the person above said

on our oem tips those things wont do any good. It will clean it but the years and miles of abuse and wear just cant bring the shine back.

Get some new tips!

all you need to do is pull them off and hit them with some steel wool. they'll look fine.

mine came out alright, its a shame one of them is slightly bent when my grandma owned the car and backed into a high curb.
