Default New Exhaust, Thoughts...

hey guys so im looking at getting the exhaust done on my 91 ls4, just curious what everyone thinks, ive talked to different places and people and im thinking of deleting all 3 resonators and make it 2 straight pipes fromt the cats all the way to the back and into 2 flowmasters. any other thoughts from you guys or ideas... thanks greatly appreciated!

you will be wanting an x-pipe in there, V8s have a proven affection for H/X pipes.

do a search on it, JBrady has an excellent post on LS exhaust design.

info on my setup is here:https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=329306

Flowmasters are not the best flowing mufflers. And they tend to have a drone at 2000 RPM. I would go with Dynomax, or Magnaflow.
Dynomax Super Turbos are very quiet, but have good bass, Race Magnum mufflers are a lot more louder, but sound awesome.
ANd there is HEMI Turbo, quiet as stock, best flow out of all. Do research online.

theres an old video of mine, that was when I first got it done, straight pipes from the cats to those quad muffs in the back. Since then the pulsing has died down but still evident. I plan on adding an x pipe for the additional power.

I looked at Flowmaster but ended up going with Magnaflows. Flowmasters to me will make my LS sound like a Mustang. I recently deleted the middle resonator after I deleted the rear ones because it was hitting my driveway as I pulled into my garage. So I am still using my OEM Y-pipes but now am running into just Magnaflows. It made it a little louder without the middle resonator. I need to make another video. I have some on YouTube under steveski. The videos were shot just after installation. After two weeks the mufflers took on a different sound as they broke in. I was going to do duals but decided against it since what I have now sounds like I like it.

try to use resonators instead of straight-piping it. Cleans the sound up a lot

and flowmaster aren't the best

I had ANSA Silverlines on my old 91 and they sounded GREAT! no rice or buzz or rasp or anything. just deep rumble.

Yeah JBrady gives a good write up and besides, the xpipe from Magnaflow is less than $100. The old hot rods had an H-pipe to equalize exhaust pressure/gasses if you recall.

What's the advantage of an "X" pipe over an "H" pipe? Better flow??

or are they about the same.

x-pipe yields better flow and velocity and is the preferred choice for 1uz applications in general.
