Hi All, I have a 99 ls400, is the car made in Japan and ship over as a complete car like in earlier years or is it assembled here in America, anyone know.

I heard the quality of toyota that are assembled in the USA is not as great as if the car were built in japan and ship over. anyone has any insights on this issues.

the new lexus's are sorta funny now. you get two options. one from japan and one from usa. but i doubt anyone knoes about this. but usually it will tell you where its been assembled on your driver side door well or i think on the certificate that comes with your car.

thanks, thats what i thought.

i guess only certain cars are assembled in america like the tacoma,camry, etc. but all lexus are buit in japan and ship here. correct me if im wrong.

first letter of vin, if its a J it was made in japan.

All Lexus models are made in Japan, with the exception of some RX 350 models which are built at the Cambridge, Canada plant.

you can look at the VIN number. The first letter/number represent the place to made. 1 is US and J is Japan.

You will never find a 1 for US built on a Lexus , their is a 2 for the rx 330/350 from mid 04 to now. All Lexus vehicles are made in Japan other than the exception above.
