Key
I have one Lexus key. I need another one.
I am going to buy a blank key from ebay and have an ACE store cut it. Can this key start the car directly? or do I need to do any programing thing?
Is there a better way to get a spare key?
Thanks
Edit: It is a 96 LS4.

ACE Hardware will not be able to cut it. You will need to have it cut by a dealership. What year is your LS400? If it's a 1990-1996, the key will work without needing any programming.

I have a 02 GS430(laser cut) and was told its $200 to get another master. That is if the key you have is a master. I have 4 keys. 2 masters, a valet and a wallet/flat combo. Older keys would be cheaper. They don't have to reprogram and lock out any missing keys.

If I were you, I'd buy one from Sewell for $42, and have them cut it. Might be cheaper that way, not to mention, OEM keys look much better No programming is necessary.

I bought one of those flip keys (like the ones used on mercedes) on Ebay for $30. A Local shop over here cut it for $20. The dealership wouldn't even cut it cause they wanted to sell me a new key from them. 96 LS400 btw. Works the same as the regular key I have
