Default question on 92 ls400 keys(problem solved)

i posted this in the classifieds by mistake. hope the mods remove it if it is not allowed there.
anyways, can someone please tell me whether this will work for me.
i only got one key when i got my car and it is falling apart.
i want the new key to have the side remote button.
if i get this set from lexus-parts .com which comes with 2 new cut keys and the chip, all i have to do is put the new chip in and everything should be fine right. no programming whatsoever needed on the 92 ls400, right?it should be plug'n'play since the keys are cut through the vin, they should work fine, right?
Also, does anyone know whether there is another place to get this for cheaper.
i am being quoted $312 for the 2 keys cut and the chip from lexus-parts.com
here is an image from their website

thanks alot

Yup, new chip in the ECM = plug and play.

$312 is steep though.

$160 for 2 keys and transmitter, you can program up to 6 keys with this aftermarket option.

Wow, not a bad deal at all. My car came with 2 keys, but neither of the remotes work, and they're both falling apart.

Also, for some reason, the key only works in the ignition and passenger side door. Doesn't work for the trunk or passenger side door. Anyone know why this may be? I wouldn't doubt if maybe the last owner got the lock cylinder and ignition changed... so maybe that might be why neither remote works.

Are you sure it's not one of the Valet keys?

Yeah... I didn't get a valet key when I bought the car... just two remote keys as pictured above. And neither work in the trunk or passenger door.

On the left side of the trunk, there is an ECM right next to where the antenna is. It is held down by two 10mm nuts. You unscrew them, then uncouple the 2 (or was it 3?) connectors.

The chip should be located and accessible from the top of the unit. But if you're going the Mikado route, this thing is completely removed because the Mikado kit comes with an aftermarket ECM (that grey box in the picture I posted on the other thread).

That's weirdo. I'd look into the locks being different...its definitely a possibility...my aftermarket keys work great in all keyholes, so does my original keys. I never got a valet key with mine.

yea i have the key pictured above, and i cant open the trunk with the key lol. but for 160 bux, this seems like a deal. hows the range with the key? the only way i can get it to lock/unlock is if i point it directly at the driver/passenger keyhole lol.

Range is good, I can unlock/lock my car from about 20-25 feet...depends on if the batteries are good of course.

I ordered through the phone...he's a little tough to get a hold of.

I recommend to email him your info, say you're ready to order RIGHT NOW. Leave your contact info, he's going to have to get an order form out to you and needs a copy of your registration and drivers license.

sammywu@sbcglobal.net

And no, I don't get any hookups or kickbacks for this referral...but tell him I sent you.
