mine stopped working a month ago! he told me mine wasnt covered either.
I'm really pissed because this was the only OEM style remote key, and relatively cheap too..
oh well
he's a complete liar about the First time hearing this problem because mine does the same thing and i told him. chirps every couple seconds and doesnt respond to remote inputs.
its been less than a year! AGH!!!!! god@mnit!!

I'm going to post something really negative in the vendor forum and get the BBB on his bum if I find out he shafted you too.

i called him again a couple days ago. He said i would have to send it in for inspection. Which kinda sucks but i understand. He said that if it is a defect(which it is), he will replace it for free. I hope to get it working again. I got so used to the keyless!
Will definitely keep you guys updated.

Does anyone by chance have a viper alarm system? Because I want to install a perimeter alarm on my car, but i dont want that silly-*** alarm tone going off.
Is there anyway the installer can keep the original siren and chirp while installing an aftermarket alarm? I think those aftermarket alarm systems are annoying and make the car sound cheap when they go off.

My money is on the relays being bad, I'm bringing it to my uncle to troubleshoot for sure as I am not a real SMC/PCB expert.

Ok, update on the Mikado kit time. Time to dig out an old dusty thread. So, my 2nd UNIT purchased from Mikado lasted 1 1/2 years after ordering, and it started having the same reaction again. It wouldn't work, would constantly chirp slightly. I was a bit pissed at having the same reaction as before, so I decided to check it out.
The reason why this is happening is because there is no seal to keep the moisture out. That's what is killing this unit. Granted, the thing is tucked safely away in the trunk but slight condensation does have a way of getting in there (like our ECUs).
Even after all these years, I kept the original "defective" unit, and decided to give it a what the hell, and plug it back in. Programmed it, and now it works. I threw the 2nd unit in a bag with silicone granules (to pull the moisture out) and see if it responds again. Then I plan to do some major modifications to the original Mikado box so it at least has some type of moisture sealing.
