90 LS 400 Crank no Start
I am having problems with LS 400. Its a crank no start. I suspected the fuel pum and checked the fuel pump and it spins when hooked up to 12V.
I also checked the fuel rail and ir seem to have fuel.
I pulled out the plaugs and found them to be fouled and covered in black stuff. I cleaned tham as much as I could, put all 8 back and still the same problems. The fuel relay clicks!!!
Any help will be appreciated.

I have the same exact problem in my SC400. Tried, and changed everything, and nothign helped.
Try to jumpo start it from another car. Start up the other car, hook up the jumper cables, and wait 2 minutes. If your car starts... drive it around for 5 minutes, and turn it off. IF it doesnt start up again, then its your ECU. Took me lots of money, and hours to figure this out.
See this thread... it could save you lots of money, and hassle:

Hey thanks for the replies, but....
I just installed a brand new battery ( as the old one was shot). It also has brand new cap, rotor and wires. I think it must be or seem like the ECU??? Now the question will be how do you check this..? and does anyone have any specs on this and where to find it?
Thanks

When I had my SC400, one of the common problems was faulty fuel pump ECU. The fuel pump ECU is just a fancy 2 stage relay, where stage one (Usually during start up and low demand situations) it runs on reduced volatege, and on high stage it runs at full 12V. Generally the low stage dies cauing you to be able to crank, but no fuel since the fuel pump isn't getting voltage. On the SC, the trick was to just replace the fuel pump ECU, or bypass the low stage and just run it in high 12V all the time which I did myself for years with no problems. I'm not sure how much of this carries over to the LS 1UZ-FE engine, but I would think it probabaly could be very similar.
