275km/h in 92 LS 400 with 380000km. Now with new suspension of 93 model a lot more stability at highspeeds and especially in corners (Kasseler Berge).LS 400(98) and 430(01) I test drove were limited at 260km/h. The newer ones are a lot smoother to drive at topspeeds than 1gen. Cruise control is workink till 210km/h in all models. German RX 300 models are limited at 180 km/h.

I took the good ol' 2-5-oh up to about 150, then the speedometer started clicking. Reached the end of the gauge. LOL! I had you there for a second...

I'm new to the forums, but thought I would add my deal. Last summer I just crossed over the New Mexico border coming into Colorado and decided to open it up. The road was straight as can be (if you saw the end of Terminator 1 it was like that) and I saw 125 for about 10 minutes until my wife said to slow down. I stuck 90mph for the rest of the trip. I felt very comfortable at 125 and had some pedal left. You do need to be careful at that speed though. I was in Germany last May and saw 150mph on the speedo while driving the autobaun in a new BMW 5 series. THAT WAS FAST! I still like my LS though!

sorry to the bimmer owners in here but i thought id share my 100+ story. im cruising on the 405 on my way back to irvine at 4 in the morning. a new 330ci convertible (w/o plates yet) just decided to cut me off (i was in the fast lane) and chill at 70 right in front of me. so i changed lanes, we have a go at it, pretty good race up to 100, but thats were i pulled away. kept it pegged until 145 or so and noticed he was more than a couple car lengths back. so i did what any normal, responsible driver would do , taunted em with my turn signals (left, right, hazard, right, left, hazard), let off da gas, and wave to em as i let em go by me just to see his face. hehe, i love my lexo.

ps two of my pledge bros were with me, adding more weight.

i was just doin the usual 70 on the NJ Turnpike at about 3am one day when i decided to flex out my lex...i was surprised at how fast it accelerates even from 70 and up. within a short time i hit 110, then 120, then stopped at 130 because my radar detector started to beep. the ride was amazingly stable and the car seemed to be a floating cabin with no yaw whatsoever! the ride was cushioned to every extent and the engine purred like a kitteh no louder than it usually is at 70. i wouldn't trade my LS400 for any other car. let's see some minivan try that one...

Christian,

Let me understand you... a 92 model LS400 with 380,000km (235,000 miles) reached an indicated 275kph (170mph) ???

Pardon me but my initial reaction is BS. I do not know what the eurospec LS400 had in 92 but I DOUBT they had the 300++hp needed to reach 170mph. IS yours MODIFIED??? If so, I apologize. Never-the-less, pretty tough to believe. Heck, 345hp Corvettes top out around 170mph. Also, that is a very HIGH mileage vehicle to be taking top speed runs in (not advised) mechanical stuff ALWAYS wears out and BREAKS eventually.

As far as the newer cars being speed limited to 260kph (161mph) that is approximately 12mph faster than US spec limiters at 240kph (149). As I said before, indicated speed is OFTEN not accurate. I do not know how accurate Lexus speedometers are at top speed. US spec LS400 speedometers are calibrated to 160mph.

So, please confirm, do you claim 275kph in a STOCK 92 LS400 with 380,000km?

It's only indicated speed. 250 is standing in the documents. But i know that topspeed is faster than the limited LS 430. The LS 430 is still a lot faster till topspeed.

No I never did the complete inspection of the car. All i know that it redlines at 6.x rpm and eats fuel like crazy. I am pretty dam sure its not just exhausts. A guy who installed them told me that its likely that I have an ECU because thats the first LS hes ever seen behave this way. When I am ready to install some more serious mods I will find out for sure.

My LS 400 is fast enought, but i dont dear to try it. I am not sure why. Perhaps this car is mainly for my daily cruising. However, I just put in a new transmission with 6 speed in my cobra. I am sure it can go over 200 mph.

Right now, i can cruise at 6th gear at 2,000 rpm and the car is very staple at 70 mph. My new redline is about 7,500. I need to find a place to try it. How about interstate 15 on the way to Las Vegas?

Hello,

yesterday I was on 500km trip with my dads LS. The car now has 445000km on it and still drives great.
This was taken on the german autobahn.

I confirmed that my 2004 LS does have a speed limiter (there are some really straight and flat roads west of Houston).

At about 132 indicated the car smoothly stopped accelerating and held the speed. Until then it was still pulling pretty hard.

With the aerodynamics and the 290 HP, what would a guess for maximum speed be - 160 maybe?

Hello,

since 95 all models over here are limited at 250Km/h which is 260Km/h on the speedo. For all 430 Lexus models TTE offers a module to take out the limiter. SC430 is claimed 267Km/h, LS430 266Km/h, GS430, 259Km/h. I have never driven a newer Lexus without the limiter.
