Default Quick question regarding Upper Radiator hose

I have a crack starting to form on one end of the upper radiator hose. Are there any special precautions I must take before changing it out?

From my understanding, I just simply remove it and replace the hose. Then top off the coolant reservoir. Am I correct?

Also, do you need to put coolant in the radiator itself? (ie remove the cap and fill)

appreciate the help you guys
