Default Upper Control Arm Balljoint Fix

Found a solution to fix the non replacable upper arm balljoint , only had to grind of the rolled retaining edge to get the guts out of the standard unit , machined it out 2 mm to allow me to press in a high pressure teflon bushed corrosive resistant bush and a circlip groove to hold it in , I'm having a CNC machined pin made up out of 4130 grade steel that will bolt in to the bush with standard taper and thread on it so that it goes straight back into the arm where the standard units goes .
Should last at least 5 years if not forever !!
Cost for the first one with machining was around Aus $200.00 wat cheaper than the $1006.78 that those Aus Lexus sharks want , even getting one in from the States was still Aus $500.00 for a complete arm , way too much .
When it wears it will be just Aus $98.00 for a new bush to press in , yum , yum !!

richonenz, that's some very nice work you've done there. I would really like to see the finished product with the custom machined taper bolt. The only possible problem you might encounter is with the Teflon liner. The liner works great as long as you keep it clean (no solvents, grease, oil, etc..), therefore you need to consider a rubber boot that would protect it from all the fluids that can get to it at that location.

No worries on that front , it's hardened ground stainless steel and the PFTE liner is Alkaline , acid , oil and solvent resistant , the V8 Supercar boys run these joints for a whole season no probs .
But I do intend to fit an inner rubber washer where the top of the pin bolts in .
That should keep the worst of any crud out .
