Default Remote chip

I have a 93 LS with only a valet key. I have a lead on a remote key (pre cut) that includes the transponder chip that I assume plugs in somewhere under the dash. Assuming I replace my chip with the chip included with the remote key the remote unlocking/locking will work since the remote and the new chip both match up

Where exactly is the chip under the dash?

This is specifically what im talking about.

keys

That part number comes back to a 90-92. Can I still use that ROM in my 93?

Does anyone have an extra key with FCC id hyqwdr-b that I could try out before ordering a set and having it not work?

I thought there was no chip in the key for the first gens... so what is this chip you are looking for?

The key in the first gens is just a physical key, no electronics involved except for the remote function.

So the FCC Id really has no meaning since any key can be reprogrammed with any ROM chip?
