Default Ride getting bumpy...

Hey guys,
I have a 97 LS400 and would like to change the shocks and maybe lower the car. What do I need change to get the smoothness back? Shocks and springs? and how much will they run. Please let me know what else I would need and how much they usually run for.
Thanks for the help!

The lower you will go, the bumpier it will get. Shocks and springs go at different rates, depending on which route you decide to go.

So I just need 1 or the other and not both? This guy said that i need shocks for the front and springs for the back or vice versa, not sure but yeah... need to get the smoothness back!

If you want the smoothness back, you'll need new shocks. If you want to lower it, you'll need lowering springs and aftermarket shocks to go along with them, but the ride will get bumpier like Grand_LS4 mentioned....that's the tradeoff, bumpier ride for less body roll and a better look. Was "this guy" a mechanic or someone who knows his stuff? It's unlikely that springs will go bad on you (unless you're off-roading over rocky terrain in your LS), but shocks definitely will.
