Where is the AMP?
Hello Everyone,
I have a 94 LS400 with a NAK stereo. My front speakers are staying on after the car is off and draining my battery. I think its the amp. I found the sub woofer amp, behind the rear seat drivers side but I believe there could be another. I have looked in the following areas with no luck. I posted earlier under title "battery draining". I didn't know if to continue the same thread or start another. Anyway any help would be appreciated.
1. I looked in the trunk below the CD players.
2. I looked under both front seats.
3. I looked In the glove compartment.

Don't know whether this will help. On my 92LS, the amp is in the trunk, behind the back seat in the upper left. Had to take a couple of clips off that hold the liner in to get to it. You might try looking in there.

You’re correct, there is an amp. I disconnect it and the sub woofer (back center speaker) turns off. There seems to be another amp that powers the door speakers.

I know you say you've already checked under the cd changer, but the info at this web site indicates that's where your amp is located:

Not to hijack your thread here, but I'm interested in the resolution to your battery draining problem. My 1998 LS does this too. The previous owner took it to the dealer to check for parasitic current draw and was told that it was within specification. So he installed a Priority Start Battery Protector just before selling to me. I haven't had any problems.
For your information my mom's 1991 LS also drains the battery if it's not driven for a week or so. She tells me that it drains much faster if it's parked with the doors locked.
Good luck and would appreciate an update if you figure this out!

Hello Everyone,
I found the amp I had to remove the stereo and found it attached to the back of the unit. I need to send it out for repair. Anyone know of a place in TX that will do a good job?
Tom,
My battery draining problem is due to my amp not turning off when the car is off. The speakers remain on, therefore draining the power from the battery.
