Default Help a newbie 91 LS400 Amp

Hello Experts,

I am new to the forum and would be forever grateful for your help.

I have a 91 LS400 with a Nakamichi system. I get sound out of only one tweeter and distorted bass. I swapped out a door speaker (using instructions from this forum) and did not get any sound. I think I need to replace the amp. I see a small amp in the trunk attached against the back seat. Is this an amp for the woofer in the rear seat deck. I looked under the CD player in the trunk and don't see an amp. Where's the amp? Can I swap it with another Amp? My son bought a MTX Thunder 404R AMP 200 Watts Dynamic powerx 2 into 4 ohms - 35 watts rms/ch x 4 into 4 ohms. Can i swap with this? will i need a wiring harness? My son also bought a new head unit (Jensen) and new speakers for the door. He wants to put in a new subwoofer.

Your advice/help is appreciated.

Regards, Ken

Most people just buy a new amp because once they replace the sub in back, it can handle a lot more than the stock one. Also, the stock amp has a factory wiring harness that you would have to cut apart and figure where to send the wires, which leads me to believe that most would leave the stock wiring intack so that they can put the stock components back when they sell/trade-in their car.
