I am getting ready to buy my first LS400 soon as some of you may have noticed from my other thread, which is my first one here. I have a few cars and one of them is a generation 2 Acura Legend (1991-up). I happened to notice how many members here like the design of the 1995 LS400 interior over the previous years. I also noticed how strikingly silmilar the 1995 LS400 interior is to a 1991 Acura Legend. Here are some pics and see if you think so too. Look at the stiching and design pattern of the front and rear seats, door panel, the gathered leather in the door panel, steering wheel, etc...
BTW This is not inteneded to be a bashing or anything of that sort. I merely am comparing from a design/ appearance point of view.
95 Lexus LS interior resembles the first gen Lexus LS the most. Perhaps we should compare the first year of those models: 90 Lexus LS with 91 Acura?
It's natural to see the evolution from a Gen 1 1990 LS to the Gen 2 1995 LS. SO yes I agree tha tthey are similar too. However, the 1990 LS interior design has different stiching, different steering wheel, diffeent door panel skins, etc. I feel that it's the 1995 LS that shares the most similarities with the 1991 Legend.
On another note, Take a look at the door handles below:
Not until the 2001 LS430 did the LS have the pull-type door handles of the 1991 Legend
ride quality in my opinion is in different class between 2, LS400 is more on the luxury & smoother side, i had a 93 acura legend few years back and had alot of engine problems, overheating out of no where, one thing about acura legend i liked was its lil sportier ride than a LS400, but an LS400 with 300,000 miles feels silky smooth compared to my legend with less than 100,000 miles
the 94 legend coupe with a 6sp man tranny was a mean beast, a could have been Honda classic, only if it had RWD. Lack of RWD and V8 killed the Legend, and continues to undermine the RL. What a shame.

Ride quality should be better in the LS.
V8 LS engine should be smoother than the V6 Legend.
Overheating...very simple...seeping head gasket.

Do you remember how nice the shifting was in the 6spd Legend?
RL went all the way to Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD™) now. I guess that's their way of solving that problem.

And yes you're right! I remember driving an automatic and it felt like a beast. I always liked the Legend, but Acura's lack of styling and performance compared to Lexus made me lose respect for them. IMO even the new RL still has that Honda look and no V8, even with all-wheel drive @ 300HP
on a V6 there is still a difference between the two.
Legend feels alot more like an Euro accord with some luxury, seat & leather styling is very identical between accord and legend, but i have to admit that 6sp legend coupe is a killer, only if it was RWD
i would go for the ls, i have a 1991 ls400 which i raced with one of my friend which happens to own a 1993 legend (dont know the model), and i smoked him so bad that later that night at 3AM he called me an asked me how much horse i got in my car haha
I've owned a '97 LS400 for the past 5 years, and just sold my '94 Legend LS after 4 years of ownership. The Legend has 165K miles on it when I sold it, and still ran great, although the auto trans. was getting tired.
These are two very different cars. The Lexus is definitely aging more gracefully...interior components are higher quality. The Legend is a bigger, classier very reliable "Honda Accord." Great car, but it's dated now.
I'd recommend the Lexus if you want sheer luxury and ride quality. The Lex is also more powerful than Legend.
