OK guys, i need as much help as I can get. A couple of days ago, while I was going to work, the air-filter, oil pressure, battery, emergency brake and tail-light, lights all came on. The car did not do any hesitation and I went to work without a problem. I work 11 hours a day and getting out after 9:00 PM. I went home that night with the same symptoms and without a problem. The next morning I had 1 hour free, so I opened the hood and did not see anything wrong. I connected my diagnostic reader and the engine light kept on blinking repeatedly without givin' me any specific codes. I drove again to work yesterday with the same issue only to dissapear out of nowhere for about a couple of minutes and then the lights came back on again. On my way home at night again the lights came off and on again. A little before I get to my house (it's only about 7 miles distance), the anti-lock and traction lights came on as well. As soon as I pullen in my driveway, the car died. Any ideas what it may be???? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Sorry, I forgat to mention. The vehicle is a '92 LS 400 with nearly 170K miles.

 

did the car start up again after iot died ...did it stay running

you werent able to get any codes .....do you live near an autozone

they might be able to retrieve the codes to see what wrong

Yes, the car DID start and only the 5 original lights that I mentioned were still on.

 

I'd get that scanned at autozone or the Lexus dealer for more specific info sooner rather than later.

 

Last time this happend in my friends 93GS, it turned out to be the alternater. Good luck.

My first thought was alternator also.

I had similar simptoms with all the lights coming on when mine went bad.
I charged the battery and it went away for 10 minutes, the alternator was dying and undercharging, so it as like a slow death for the battery.

I have access to a '91 LS repair manual, let me know if you want the procedure to test it, and if the mods will allow me, I can probably scan the necessary pages.
It should be the same alternator.

 

This is solved as well. I took the car to my cousin who's a mechanic and checked it verifying that the alternator was charging only 8.9. I'm gonna replace the P/S also which is the root of the problem. Thanks again everyone for your help.
