Default Speedometer MPH and horn

Just purchased a 1991 LS 400. Horn doesn't work and the speedometer MPH won't budge. The whole cluster works fine and the speedo lights up, just won't accelerate. Its so dead its below the "0". This is a brand new platform for me, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I would check the fuse for the horn if I new where the fuse box was. Plus, are there any manuals out there like a Haynes for the low level mechanic like me?

Welcome to Club Lexus,

Ive heard of bad clusters but yours seems to be something different as yours does light up and only speedo is not working. Check other threads under "cluster repair" and you will find many talking of the problems they encountered with the clusters. As for repair manuals, you have to get one specifically to your year from the toyota and down load from website at http://techinfo.lexus.com/. I believe it cost $10 dollars to get a manual that would normally cost you $200+ if you bought is.Try this web site out www.lexls.com, it belongs to one of the members here and has a lot of good DIY information on the first gen lexus.

Make sure your cable is plug into the tranny. I had similar problem with ny Cressida years ago and that solved the problem.
