Default Dash lights

Hey guys newbie here. I have one question about the dash lights not coming on right away when I start the car in the morning. Is there some sort of ballast that control the lights in and around the dash area? It has been taking up to a minute for the dash lights to come on. Just worried that one day the lights will stop coming on. The problem is on a 93 LS400.

Welcome to CL!

The dash problems seems common among the UCF10/11. The sticky has some good info, possibly you may get some clues there.

Hi. I also have a '93 LS400 and have exprienced various cluster failures. Have used Jim
Walker in the past at jimlwalker@sbcglobal.net for several problems. Have now found
www.mrwizard.com on Google. Recommended by Houston used car dealer who uses
him. Check out his site.

Thumbs up cluster

I recently had my 93 done at DashUSA, www.dashusa.com. Steve specializes in all cluster repair. He repaired all my half lit needles and all the known issues with this cluster for $350. Now it's nice and bright just like new.

I'm glad you found a fix. I think Mr. Wizard is less expensive than what you paid, but I would have to check his website more closely than I have done. Well, you still beat the Lexus boys,
and got away with most of your cash.

I don't know how these guys are discovering the ways to discern just what capacitor does
what and how to tell is they are failing, but, boy am I glad they are doing it. These problems
have been enumerated on these forums for years, and now it seems that owners of at least
the first generation Lexuses have a way to cure this endemic problem. I hope the word gets
out to all of them.
