new struts...
Please forgive me for asking a question that has likely been answered hundreds of times already on this forum. This is my first visit to the board and I couldn't find the specific answer that I'm looking for and that is the reason that I'm posting this new thread with this quest...
I have a 1999 LS400. I do not like the Cadillac-style floaty ride. I would like to have a more German-feeling ride or one that is more taut, tight, etc. I have owned Audi's over the last ten years and this is my first Lexus product. I received a quote from NTB to install bilstein shocks all the way around for approximately $1500. I don't want to change the ride height of the car, only firm up the ride so that it's more comparable to the A8, S500 or 740i. Please advise...and thank you.

Welcome to CL.
For $1600 and some odd, you could buy and install JIC FLT-A2's adjustable coil-overs. Bare Bilsteins cost $460 shipped and shops out in So. Cal charge $250 to install. This shop is WAY high.

I am in the same boat ( literally ) I live the air and the ride but the price of one replacement air shock is too rich for me . Coilovers and shocks are my options but which type what vender etc have been holding me back. I live in Los Angeles so I know there must be somewhere I can find some .
TX.Realator was a one day shot, he hasn't been back.
Lots of threads about various suspension systems, thereare links in this one:

The Bilstein HD with stock spring but set at the lower portion to reduce center of gravity would be a nice choice if you still want enough of that luxo feel. For that cost and if you want a lower ride height, the Megan line is hard to not consider for the $.

congratulations on discovering what I've been pushing for since ~2005...
Wha-hahahahaha
But seriously, many of those old threads are just as relevant with a few player changes in the manufacturer names. These would be good updates for the OG sticky.
