Default Boosted Ls400

OKOKOK hello everyone, the last time I was on here I was dealing with some electrical issues on my 97’ Ls400 and I still am but I’ve come along way.

BEFORE YOU KEEP READING..I’ll let you know this is just me explaining everything I’ve got going on w my car and even inviting you to help w the build for wtv reason you like.

With that being said Ive just been taking the time to do a lot more research on these cars and their engines, on all of the forums and whatnot but also I just graduated a technician training program held at a Toyota service center😏 which I will be applying to

with all of this research and the beautiful experience of driving my car ive decided I will be BOOSTING MY LS400😤 so far im looking at a cd009 for a manual swap and a rear mounted turbo setup with some other modifications under the hood for the support.

Before we get into that I have to finish restoring my car as much as i can and making sure everything is as functional as it should be. Right now I’m getting ready to pull the engine and do a good full service (starter, valve cover and oil pan gaskets, trans filter, the wiring harness and my brake lines just went so that too) I’m even gonna clean the bay and all the parts while I can because its is disgusting from all the leaks ive had.

The question I have today is if any of you know of anything else I should be looking for at this point or if theres any questions or anything you got for me lmk. I just wanna make sure I cover all my bases and get everything in order while I can but also Ik these cars aren’t really messed with on this level so I just wanna document it.

rear mounted turbo! would love to see this executed but there are many considerations to think about when boosting the 1UZ.
first comes to mind is fueling! i hope you are considering a stand-alone ECU as the stock one will not be of help. at least a piggy-back system to compensate.

and for the manual swap, there are a handful of successful swaps outside of CL, so please keep us posted on your progress. lots of hurdles to overcome to get there depending on what parts you have, but it's always cool to see build projects!

Funny - for all the threads that get moved OUT of Build Threads this is one that I think should be moved IN to it

Yea actually I was looking Haltech for ecu options and maybe even one of their dashboard displays. But I wanted to know if It’s possible to run both ECUs on this car??? I was reading somewhere about using the standalone for the engine tuning and keeping the stock one to control the body, or maybe just keeping the regular bcm but I don’t know how complicated that would be or if even need to here. I do plan on doing a lot to the car but I also want to try keep some sense of functionality inside
