Default Easy fixes to do...

I'm 16 as most of yall know and since summer is finally in full blast I'm looking to do some hands on work on the *now mine* Lexus. It's a 94' LS400 and I've detailed it to perfection working with q-tips over and over again and can't look better! The real kicker for me though is cleaning the engine. It's absolutley fabolous for a ten year old machine that's been neglected for eight of those ten years!

What I really want to do is replace or clean most of the internal engine stuff if I can. I tried doing the EGR (I think that's what it's called) valve but through persians link I found that it applied to the older machines, not mine.

What can I do without spending big bucks to make the car run a bit smoother, even if it's just a physcological (sp?) effect?

What about some common problems I should look out for so I can try to fix them myself?

First off, if your school offers an automotive mechanics course, sign up for it, might as well take the auto body courses too. Invest in the service manual and start reading through to get an idea how things are set-up in the car.

You can pick up a lot by observing others working on their cars and I'm sure your neighborhood has at least a couple guys who are weekend warriors regarding their car/truck. Cruise on by and ask if you can watch them.
