Power steering pump locks up
New to site here. Have a 1992 Toyota Celsior and when I replaced power steering pump and putting pulley on, it locks up the pump like no spinning. This was the last thing to get it going! 🙄 Am I missing something?
Talked to Lares and they questioned the diameter of the old pump shaft. The old pump was probably original JDM and I bet it’s different than Lexus LS400 replacement pump. Anyone have an original LS400 power steering pump pulley they don’t need?
Realized I didn’t answer your question. Notorious leakage figured if I was going to have to pull pump anyway might as well replace with new. Thought about rebuilding but glad I didn’t try now seeing as most rebuild kits would be for Lexus not Celsius.

So the question is more if the rebuilt unit you got is good or how the parts were reinstalled. Pictures would help
Maybe your pulley was not pressed on properly? Maybe the bearing for the pump shaft is no good?
Did the shaft spin on the new pump before you installed it onto the car?
Pump is new. Reinstalled pulley on old pump spins no problem. Install on new pump locks up. Meaning locks up against the pump. Pulley off of new pump, pump spins freely. I hate to have to buy another pump and pulley from junkyard just to get the pulley hoping that is the problem

That shouldn't be an issue when you're pressing the pulley on the same way to a new pump as it sat on the old pump. It sounds like the shaft on the new pump may not be properly aligned. Does the pulley make contact with the pump housing when it's pressed on?
