Default LSD conversion kit?

Im looking into a LSD for my 98 Ls, and all I can is the commonly known supra diff swap. Those are expensive to find, and I can imagine would require a lot of work. I know LSD conversion kits exist out there, is there a reason I cant find any for my car? Theres plentiful for the IS, but none for the LS. Would it be possible? If it is, could I just have a machine shop make it?

Curious about this, thanks for the replys.

Hayden.

Been looking into this for a minute. There aren't any "kits" because you just need a set of bearings and an actual LSD gear set, which appears to be drop-in for the 98-00s if you get the right one. It can be done, check out Forward Momentum's videos on youtube for details on a CBS Racing helical diff gear set. We have the "bolted" diff, which makes things easier.

Okay, would a resistance pack not work? My buddy with a e46 zhp dropped in a resistance pack that mimics a LSD, all it consists of is some metal plates and some springs all put together. Does our diff design not allow for that?

You mean a clutch pack style diff? That's just the style of the gear set, it's still an LSD. I don't believe you can convert our stock open gear set to a clutch pack style, so you'd still be replacing it anyway. KAAZ sells a couple clutch-pack style diffs, I believe the DAT3020 and DBT3020 will fit:

sorry, I shouldve been more specific with my description. Instead of “plates” I shouldve said bricks. I will include a picture, but if its not a good photo just search up LSD conversion kit. Thats what im talking about, and im curious if that would work with our differential style.
