I don't understand what\where is damp. Is it coolant? It looks like it's underneath and behind? the wheel? Maybe you drove through a puddle of something. What exactly is wet.

P.S what color is the coolant... it should be red, but your reservoir doesn't look red.

I was thinking the same thing, what's wet?

About the coolant----- it sure looks black. I've seen a few like that over the years. (including mine) The '93 I bought 2 years ago with 85K miles was the same way "black". But there was no oil in it like you would think. I was told it was more then likely original. The way this car was NOT taken care of, I would believe it was original. I had it flushed and filled with Toyota red and everything is fine now. I also read somewhere that new radiator hoses can change your coolant color.....to black.

the overflow hose that runs in front of the rad cap shoots straight down to that exact location (yes into the engine bay and eventually to the ground). so i'm guessing there is too much coolant and is overflowing when the engine gets to temp.

Good that you found the leak and fixed it. Hope you bled all the air out of it.
Oh still, what color is your coolant?
