i always found the pedal feel to be odd (especially after driving modern cars) but then was told it was normal and lived with it. mine was not half way but it was significantly more than anything newer - say 25-30% on the LS vs 5-10% on my 2007 is250.
it took time to calibrate my foot to it but yes it's initially concerning but it's normal (barring no other external issues as this thread is trying to get to).

Modern cars have significantly different pedal tuning than cars in the "Yee old days" used to. Customers like the more "oh the pedal feels peppy" on the test drive, so OEM's tune it more for that. Travel = sloppy = worse, or at least that's the perception. Even if a softer pedal, for a non-sports car, is actually better and more enjoyable to use in the long run.
This being said I would prefer just a little big sharper response in the booster. Slightly more assist requiring slightly less pedal pressure. But this is personal preference. I still vastly prefer the analogue feel of the brakes and steering of this car compared to how modern cars (with electric boosters and power steer) feel.

So we finally got a cool day down here in South Florida, it was 63 degrees this morning. Yesterday and more so today, the brakes feel different. Yesterday at 75 degrees, it was easier to hold the car at stop with normal revs. Today, with engine at the normal temp, my idle revs without the AC are at 500rpm, with AC, 540-550. No shakes or stalls and no problem acceloratoring. Obviously with lower revs it was even easier to hold the car at a stop. I'm assuming the temperature is affecting the brake fluid? But is it normal for the car to idle lower at lower Temps? I've only had the car since July so this is the 1st time I have got to experience it on a cool day.

I don't notice the brake feel changing as the temperature changes day to day.
The only time it changes is if I get the brakes heat soaked when I drive spiritedly in the mountains, which is to be expected.
