Please help what can I do. Trans pan discontinued
Hello guys. My 1994 ls400 has a stripped trans pan drain plug. No machine shop, trans shop, or any shop will put new threads in it for me they all say it's too thin of metal. My car is screwed. I can't drive my perfectly driving car, and I can't source a new transmission pan anywhere besides a custom trans pan. Can someone give me a some advice? I have the a341e transmission... a custom trans pan online says it fits the 340,a341, a650... the a340 trans gasket is the same exact part as my 341e trans gasket (aftermarket cork gasket). This means a340 pan should bolt up to my a341e.... but wouldn't that mean I need a different length filter? My head is spinning i don't know what to do. I'm extremely frustrated that I'm encountering an discontinued part for such a important thing on this perfectly running car. Wtffff

Unfortunately it's not gonna happen. Not a single salvage yard I've seen will pull a transmission pan off of a transmission for me, it makes no sense for them to do that. God fk lexus for discontinuing this part. They want to force us to buy crappy new ugly plastic lexus

I'll get you one if I ever find one at the local yards. Could take awhile. Weeks, months or longer. There are a couple at Pick N Pull currently problem is they pull all the engines and send them off to be refreshed so it's hard to score engine and transmission parts.

Have been in the yard awhile probably not much left.
edit - this can be repaired using plumbing solder and a torch. You may laugh but I've done it the repair held up until the transmission failed. Failure was because owner drove the car with no transmission fluid (stripped plug will do that) which caused damage that didn't show up for some time. Can use the bung and plug from any number of Toyota transmissions they are pretty much all the same.

Join the Facebook groups and ask anyone if they have a dead transmission you can take the pan from. I can understand the yards not wanting to separate a pan from a potentially good transmission. But if you can find someone with a known dead unit? Game on.

There’s a variety of aftermarket products designed for this issue.
I can’t speak with experience or recommend a certain brand but if you truly are at the end of your rope it’s worth a try.

I considered doing something like this
Since it wasn't my car I didn't want to put it back on the road not knowing if such a repair would last.

The A340 pan has different configurations depending on the vehicle the trans is installed in.
Transtar catalog page for A340
Transtar: https://www.transtar1.com/
I would do this:
Remove the pan and locate a place where a universal drain plug kit can be installed. I like this kit because instead of a pipe plug (taper threads), it uses a straight thread plug and an o-ring for sealing:
Where I've installed this kit, I substitute a Sta-O-Seal for the plug o-ring:
Epoxy the stripped plug in place. Use an oil resistant epoxy. Consider epoxying the plug from the inside of the pan. This makes it impossible for some ignorant soul from attempting to remove it and totally destroying the pan. Welding the plug in place is an option.
