Default Ls500 wheels on ls400

Hey so I want to buy new wheels for my 1999 LS400, I have in mind, the ls500e 20” wheels, ofc I’d need an adaptor but otherwise, is it too wide to even run a spacer aswell? I feel like it’s huge compared to the 400 wheel thanks for the help
attaching a photo for reference

The Ls500e wheel, 20”

Currently running 17”, on 20’s I’ll need to make it less lower

anything will fit with a little massaging! next question is do you want to modify your fenders or keep them stock? do you like a little poke or looking for a flushed look?

because you have to run an adapter to go from 5x120 down to 5x114.3 to fit the LS400, the wheel offsets will be much lower. the smallest adapter i know is 20mm so adding that to the stock offset will yield:
8.5Jx20 ET25 --> 8.5x20 ET5
9.5Jx20 ET35 --> 9.5x20 ET15

from my experience that should fit with a little poke. fender cutting will depending on final tire size and stretch, as well as final ride height.

here is what i did. use https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator to compare my wheels to yours.

no pull, all stock fenders, just shaved front and back!

Thanks!! I’ll definitely need to plan this out to not throw away money and I’m thinking of first getting the serial999 suspension and then mess around with fitment and stuff

serial9 suspension will give you much more flexibility for fitment and adjustment. keep us updated!

remember wheel size is just one piece of the fitment puzzle. tire size and ride height are the others.

I have BC racing coilovers now and godspeed suspension which honestly isn’t worth the money, it’s a bit cheaper than Serial9 but is super wonky and feels like it’s going to break lol
will definitely update! Thanks for the support aswell!

PLEASE don't ruin these cars. There are very few left in decent shape and the last thing they need is people trashing them by putting on as giant of a wagon wheel as they can possibly fit, even if it means extensive bodywork to the car. Can't you be happy with the 17's? I much prefer bigger tires (and not wheels) but those 17's look pretty good if you ask me.

The ride quality degradation from 16-->18 quite shocking. I can only imagine what going to 20's is like.

Try searching for ISF 19s They're 8"/9" F/R, they'll fit pretty well with 15/20mm spacers. I went with 245/40 and 255/40 in the rear. Plus they're decently lightweight since they're forged at 21 and 24lbs so not much of a ride harshness sacrifice due to weighing similar to the factory 16s
