Well all:

I finally ordered and got in my HID's. Phillips ballasts and Ultinon 6000k bulbs. Got them from HIDS4less. Quality looks excellent! The bases that they retrofitted are very well done. I have not had time to install them yet. I will take pics and let you know how they look.

true HID?
Real hid are at 4300k, 6000k is way too blue.
4300k is the whites light can get. anything higher then that will turn blue, then purple. then your luminosity will be as bright as any halogen bulb

I have to differ with you. Whether or not a bulb is HID has not to do with the bulb being 4100k or 6000k- the only two colors that Phillips makes. It has to do with the construction of the bulb, the ballasts, the "technology" used in mfg the bulb. I will not bother to post again all that has been said about HID in the many previous threads on CL. Suffice it to say that if anyone wants an accurate tutorial on HIDs, go to Rich ****'s site: http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html, makes for an excellent read.

Anyway, these are TRUE HID's.

Good choice in choosing Philips and 6000K!! It is perfect for your car because it has old projectors which have slight yellow inside like mine. By using 6000K bulbs, there will absolutely be no yellow, but a light whitish purple.

If you chose 4300k, it would look yellow and green. heheheehe

If you care to share, how much did you pay for your kit?

 

They gave me a good discount- $550 plus shipping via UPS. You should see the CNC machine work they did on the base- very nice. The bulbs are crystal clear- as they should be from Phillips. The ballasts are huge- much larger than the ballasts from Mcculloch. More difficult to place. But, Phillips is supposed to be the best- So, I bought them. I will post the pics.

I absolutely agree with Altstadt, my friend has GS400 with stock HIDs and after seeing my Philips 6000K he replaced with 6000K bulbs.

Thanks for your pics. I can't place the airbox side ballast where you did, it would block half of the intake of my BFI. Inside the central nose chamber their is a steel vertical pillar that is part of the unibody, and not a part of the soft bumper, I may place them there. These locations are very close to the lights. Secondly, I may look at the bumper brace as well. Those are my two best choices at this point.

Beg to differ......

HID is the technology, not the color of the light. And 4300k is not the whitest light gets. Take a look at a Kelvin temperature scale. You will notice that sunlight/daylight is at 5600k. I can't remember the last time I though sunlight looked blue or purple.
