Lightbulb ' PHILLIPS ULTINONS 6000k '

Except NO substitute!
I have had the German-Spec Phillips Ultinins 6000k D2S 'conversion' (pictured below) in my 350Z since I took delivery, way back in September and they work and look AWESOME! When I say D2S conversion, I mean that the little metal strip that is on the D2R (which is for reflector type setups such as the 350Z) is not on the D2S.......BUT it has to be MODIFIED/KNOTCHED to fit in a D2R socket!
The Korean ones are NOT of good quality/craftmanship!

At any rate, be sure the BULBS you buy look and read like this:

If not............You are being ripped-off!

Basically, you get what you pay for. Accept nothing less than Philips bulbs and ballasts.

Don't forget, a 9006 base will not say philips as it has been rebased.

i could have sworn the 350z has projector low beams. so shouldn't you be using D2S bulbs. i'm a little confused by your wording.

Ahhhhhhh, on the contrary! They "Look" like projector style. And Nissan definitely made a damn-good setup! BUT....they are indeed reflectors! If you ever get a chance, take a good close up look and you will notice that there is an 'inner housing' that directs the light (being reflected inside) out through what looks like a PROJECTOR lens. Believe me, I thought the same exact thing until I went to replace them.

It's hard to explain Jmai without you seeing say a 350Z and a E46 M3 side-by-side! But trust me my friend (I have the car) as soon as I pulled the bulb out.........Voilla', it was a D2R and it also specifies this on the Lens!

Here is a PERFECT picture I located (had it on my PC from waaay back).

Now then, look closely at the Lens....

See how it is @ 1in. away from the actual light opening? All the light is being is being directed thru like in a "projector" setup, BUT, usually there is not this much distance between the projector lens and the bulb! Thus the reflector setup inside I spoke of. Another thing is that if you get an opportunity or can readily spot a 350Z at night, you will notice that it does NOT have that "projector-style" light output look say like a, S2000, Bimmer, Audi, etc. It looks more distributed say like the GS or Acura.
Don't get me wrong...My lights look DAMN sweet and I'm satisfied.
