Default HID LIghts....

I have a 99' GS 400, (with HID). What is the difference between my HID bulbs and the 8000K bulbs I have heard people mention??? Mine are not yellowish at all, more like a white/blueish hue if anything...........

The higher the color temp, the more blue/purple (and less bright) the light becomes. Colors over 6000k, while some look cool, are basically only good at painting the road with color and not really emiting much useful light. Hid's are intended to simulate daytime driving wich is why stock are 4300k.

I just installed 6000K HID's in my fogs and I have to say that the 'cool' factor of this mod is very high, however the light is more blue than the stock 4100K HID's in the low beams. They definitely don't light up the road as much as the 4100K HID's in the low beams, however since they are not too blue, they are still a somewhat useful 'functional' mod.

Here are some pics of before and after the upgrade to the HID's in the fogs (the titles of the pics indicate the before and after pics):

Would I do this mod again if I had to do it over? Not so sure. Mainly because of the expense I incurred. The HID kit cost $420 and the install was a bi##h and cost me over $200.00 - is the mod worth $600.00? I am sure many members here will say no. I am not so sure either.

However having spent the money now, I am happy with it, but would not do it again if I had to.

wait, hold on, you paid 200 bucks to have them installed?! oh crap...... i installed it myself and including taking off the bumper to find a good spot for the ballasts it didn't take me more than 2 hours (taking off teh bumper is a pure hassle).... damn, if you are in cali, we could have done it together free!!!!!! well maybe a can of sprit

and nah, the hid are now in your fogs, you don't expect the fogs to light up the road for you. i put in hid fogs as well and it almost don't do anything to light up the road. in fact, it's just for look from other people's eyes

Dam, I wish I lived in Cali!! We could have gone out and had a nice dinner after the install and I still would not have spent the $200.00!!

I just got an email from Jason saying he has the 6000k D2R's in stock now, but my pocket book is pretty much drained for this month............

I want to save up for a TC, K&N intake and the Toms 6-link suspension brace before I do any more cosmetic mods. Performance mods are where it's at now!!!
