D2r Vs. D2s
does anyone know if you can just replace the oem d2r bulb with a d2s bulb?
need to know if the difference is in the light shielding only, d2r has a metal shielding inside the arc. to produce a sharp cut off and the d2s has no metal shielding in the arc.
can a oem d2r bulb be replace with a d2s bulb by just switching out the bulbs only?
any information or input will be appreciated.

the base is slightly different. they have a little **** on different side of the base from certain angle. at most you will just need to use dremel to cut out a little piece of d2s and it will fit in d2r housing
but my question is, why? you are not lighting up the road more, you are just blinding the oncoming traffic more

Is that the reason why the European car manufactures are using D2S?

the eurpean cars they have projective housing, where the beam patterns are different, so you need d2s. but lexus has reflective (except sc430) so you use d2r. with d2s you still shine the same amount of light on the ground, the extra light you shooting them up into the sky
