Does anyone else hate their yellow-colored fog lights?
When I first bought this car I was very pleasantly surprised at how elegant and classy the headlights look. The Xenon lights on the outside with the halogen lights on the inside looks very nice.
But I've got to say that I was surprised by my foglights. Looking at the housing with the light OFF you'd assume that they're 'normal' colored halogen foglights. But upon turning them on I found they are a very 80s looking yellow color. Not to mention that when I'm driving if I turn my foglights on, my Xenon lighting looks much more like halogen lighting... I have friends ride with me and they don't see my lights from the outside... when they get inside they start commenting on how they're surprised my car didn't come with Xenon lights. Then when I turn my foglights off they realize that I DO have Xenon but the yellow foglights mixed with the super white Xenon lights averages out to a color very similar to 'regular' halogen headlights.
After looking around I noticed many other GS4s with yellow foglights as well as several other Lexus models. But it seems that Lexus started putting 'regular' colored foglights in all of their models (including the GS) around 00 or 01. I guess too many people complained about not liking the color.
So my questions to you guys:
#1- Do you like the way the yellow foglights look?
#2- If you have yellow foglights, do you leave them on all the time, only when there's bad weather, or do you never turn them on at all?
#3- What's with Lexus' obsession with yellow foglights? Is there some sort of performance advantage with yellow? As in, maybe yellow cuts through fog better?
#4- Is there a replacement bulb that fits those foglight housings that would look better with the other lights up front?

dude -
For the GS, the yellow fogs are standard for all with OEM HIDs. Non-HID GS' come with clear fogs. And yes, yellow light cut thru fog better than white light.
If you want to sell or trade them for clear fogs, I'm sure there's a bunch of CL members willing to that in a second. Personally, it looks messed up on older model Lexus (ie: ES300) with junk halogens.....its like yellow on yellow. On the GS with HIDs....its pretty nice. Its a distinct Lexus look.
All in all, its whatever floats your boat.
I have them, but use them only for bad weather.

2) i always turn on my fogs when headlight is on, i think it looks awesome
3) yellow fogs ONLY come with hid. go look at gs430, they all have yellow fogs. yellow cuts through fogs better than white, that's why they are yellow. it's for a purpose. if you have bright white clear fogs, good luck in the fogs
4) it's not teh bulbs, it's the housing, there is a yellow lens. depends on what lexus you have (i assume GS?) you have to break the lens and you get clear fogs
personally i can care less what people in my car think whether i have xenon. i can see that i have xenon, it's a very nice cutoff between fogs and headlight on the road for me. but from far away i KNOW it's a lexus when i see the yellow fogs, i love that.
Gents-
The yellow fog lights are for the FOG. We who live near the coast need the yellow tint just to get down the street with limited vision in heavy fog. If in fact they were white it would be similiar to driving in "white out" conditions because the white lights simply reflect the "white" in the fog. I have a 323ic BMW with White colored fogs which are simply useless to me in the aforementioned senerio.
But, if I were flying up the 15 freeway heading to vegas on a dark night they may offer additional light on a dark road, but for foggy nights, No Bueno...

I didn't even say what my opinion was on this subject, so what's with the "doesn't mean I have to agree with you" comment?
And acting like you're higher and mightier than somebody who drives a Pontiac GrandPrix and leaves their fog lights on all the time is just dumb. Does it HURT anything to leave them on? No. Some people like the way they look on their car... they do provide additional light at night... and some are just too lazy\forgetful to turn them on and off depending on weather conditions.
#1- Do you like the way the yellow foglights look?
Yes, yellow foglights are fine with me.
#2- If you have yellow foglights, do you leave them on all the time, only when there's bad weather, or do you never turn them on at all?
All my vehicles have foglights and I rarely use them.

I thought yellog foglights are installed on GS400 with HID only. Not sure if yellow cuts through fog better but I have the white light (HID and high beam) already .

Hey I love my yellow fogs,I actually took out the clears to install them.
I just think they blend very nicely with my HID'S and not to be a follower but alot of people around my way and everywhere else I go they're running these lights,my only suggestion is to sell them or trade for some clears ........WATCH HOW FAST YOU GET RID OF THEM , anyhow goodluck

yes, a lot of cars their fogs actually won't cut through fogs well at all. i even upgrade the fogs on my ols tls to hid, so you can imagine. yellow lights are softer and it can penetrate fogs better.
