Default HID on LS400

I will make a few videos on how 5000-5600 McCalloch HID setup looks like on my LS. I though that some might be interested.

Here is the first installment:

Gheto HID Hookup In My Garage

Don't mind the mess since I just moved it...still cleaning up. Notice how they become whiiter as they heat up. Also once they reach too much output, ballasts seem to turn them down a little bit. The next installment will be on my car with light pattern etc.

P.S. this is a new McCalloch setup, these balasts won't be avaliable for another week or so.

who ever told you that that ballast isn't coming out for a year is telling a lie i think. i had that ballast for over 1 year already.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ht=project+one

i think you should try to return that kit and try to get a phillips kit. i have the mcculluch kit in my fog lights. this kit sucks. after about 3-6 months the blue color fades quick and turns yellow after a while. also that noisy warm up sound is annoying. the warm up also takes 3x longer to warm up than my OEM bmw hid.

edit: also the blue tint on the bulb chips off after a while.

I was talking to a guy at McCalloch (not a seller) nad he confirmed that these balasts are new and not out to public yet (not for another week, where did I say a year?). They baically had larger balasts, then they had smaller ones and then went to larger ones again. While they might look the same, they are not.

I use Philips bulbs so the color should not fade unless you are talking about balasts going bad.

I specifically picked McCalloch to have a longer heat up time since I think it is pretty cool. Just a pesronal prefference. BHS has used similar setup and actually told me all about it beforehand.

So it looks like it's all good

cool, where did you pick up phillps bulbs with 2 wire setup that will work with the mcculluch ballast?? i was told i could only use mcculluch bulb with the ballast due to the different 2 wire setup type. i never looked at any other plugs though.

sorry bout the 1 year thing. i was thinking of something else when i was typing this. i suppose the longer warmup time is good if you want looks. also just to let you know ahead of time, (not sure with your new ballast or not) (i'm kinda pissed off at mcculluch still trying to warn people) that i have had to get 3 different ballast already. all them just DIED after about 6 months of use. its wierd.

another thing i don't like about mcculluch is that my OEM HID i can turn on and off 20 times and it will turn on and off everytime. with the mcculluch if you turn on and off 20 times maybe 5 out of 20 they both won't come on.

Man, I hope they fixed that and I hope the warranty on those things is long. You have some horror stories there

About the Philips bulbs. Talk to Jen at suvlights.com He used to work for McCalloch and has all the possible info you might need. The guy is real cool to chat with, give him a call even if you are not buying anything, he is always ready to help.

i've delt with Jen before. don't wanna deal with him again. sure he is a cool guy to talk to but he is a rip off. He will do anything just to make a quick buck off you. he even tried to sell me 9006 connector for 10 bucks EACH when i can just go to autozone and pick them up for 2-3. He's really slick at talking. he told me he is the only one that can get these 9006 connectors. i would talk to him for information but wouldn't recomend buying anything from him.
