Default Why three different color lights?

Why does my GS430 have three different color lights?
Is there a reason for the yellow fog lights?

Sorry if this is a repeat post, but have only been on the board for a month or so.

from what i know, yellow fogs would be more useful in real foggy situation since it penetrates fogs better than normal light

and for the record, hid is pretty bad in fogs

HID, Fogs, and the Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Personally I think the DRL combined with the HIDs look bad/inconsistent.

My BMW had Xeons and boy were those bad in fog, so if the yellow fogs help, then all the better.

yup, i don't like the middle light too, very funny..... that's why i change that thing out to M4 very fast.....

and yes, hid is very bad in fogs (too powerful), that's why you want yellow fogs, which is "softer" (if you put it that way) and to penetrate through fogs

Default Fogs

I have yellow fogs and whish I could run them w/just the parking lights on wo/the HIDs by using the factory light stalk.

I know ther have been attempts to modify to this condition but sound as if the relay attempts have not worked and I do not want to run wires all over the engine bay. I have been hoping that a good relay rework comes about from some of the EE that are on this board. If there has been a good relay solution to this, maybe I ; as a layman, have just been to ingnorant to understand it.

rominl, tell me what an M4 is please? I'm assuming it is a whiter lightbulb. If so, can you point me to a place to purchase them (and let me know the cost as well).

BLW - my friend once changed my supra's fogs so they would go on without the main lights being on. I think it is a simple thing. If you like I'll find out for you.

sorry for the abbr, m4 is the polarg m4 type superwhite bulb. it's the replacement for the little bulb used in the high beam housing that turns on with the low beam headlight. it's 5W and is direct replacement of the stock one.

are there any local speed shop in IL? if so you might be able to find them for around 12 bucks a pair? if not, try places like optauto.com

yes, basically you tell the fog light switch to bypass the headlight circuitry once, it could be done easily on my acura. on the gs it seems to have some problem

That would be great! Maybe it might work the same or similiar for my GS. Might as well give a try or at least see if it's a similiar fix.

Thanks

Yea - that "friend" is the shammiii who did the mean post prior to mine. He is also known as Sound Performance or xxSupraxx on SupraForums - aka Larry from Sound Performance.

Claims that if we get him a wiring diagram he can figure it out (I thought all Toyota's were the same).

Anyway, if we can get that diagram, he will do it. Even though he is two classes short of his BSEE.....
