Default UCF20: Trying to replace HID Ballasts...

PO installed HIDs in my 97 LS400. Long story short, the passenger size ballast burnt out. I'm not sure what bulb size they are and i've never wired HIDs, so this is going to be a fun walk in the park.

Noticed they are 55w, I want to run 35w ballasts as I heard they last longer.

Are all ballasts compatible with each other? They all seem to have the type of connectors, with some having a weird middle connector. Just wondering as I was just going to pick up a cheap ebay ballast to throw in while I wait for the other ballast to burn out, just need verification on connectors really...

Also, I don't know what the heck he did, but... I noticed that my center console PRNDL lights are always off, but sometimes they turn on. However, when I shift it into gear the PRNDL lights go back out. I noticed on a couple of occasions that when I turned on the headlights they would also shut off... Is there a ground somewhere on the passenger side that he maybe used that shares the PRNDL center console lights?

Thanks.

Here's a pic of the bad ballast.
