I got a 93 es300 and the aim is way off, can i fix it myself. The little bubble is no where to be seen.
also i have heard about fitting 9005 bulbs in which would make my lights brighter giving me better road vision, does anyone have some instructions for that?
First step, park the car about 10-15 feet away from a light colored wall, with the car loaded in a "typical" fashion (tires properly inflated, no bags of cement in the trunk-unless that's what you typical haul ) You should then be able to see the vertical cutoff on the wall, and be able to bring it down properly. Perhaps once they're brought down level, the bubbles will re-appear. You should compare the lows to the highs, to make sure they are indeed aimed lower.
Once your lights are properly aimed, you can try the 9006 to 9005 lowbeam conversion. (You definitely don't want to do this with wildly mis-aimed lights, or you'll be flashed constantly, perhaps even by blue and red lights if you're unlucky).
Grab a 9006 and and 9005 side by side. You'll notice the 9006 has a larger rubber gasket. You'll need to carefully transplant it to the 9005 bulb, or else moisture may get into your light and cause havoc. Don't get your fingerprints on the bulb glass--the heat causes the oils left by fingerprints to boil--and can lead to catastrophic failure of the bulb. Wearing gloves may be a good idea.
rotate the long bolt that sticks out behind and underneath of the headlight, just below the brights. that is the up and down aim, the left and right aim is the shorter bolt that has a clear aiming device attached to it. oh yeah, park your car on a level surface, in a garage or something so it's right
thanks for all of your help. I got some super blue 9005 bulbs from wal mart. Then i modded them. I clipped the one fin with nail clippers. Then i took the old rubber rings and put them on this light too. The next thing was the only thing i had trouble with was removing the two grooves. I did it with a soldering iron and it worked like magic. I also adjusted my headlight aim with an 8mm socket wrench. All i can say is whoa, that is an amazing improvement. I could actually see and my foglights for once were not brighter than my headlights. Well all this took about 45 minutes because i was trying to be real careful. I passed about 3 cops today and none of em pulled me over. I even followed my sister real close and she said that my lights were not blinding.
