RX 300 headlight housing

headlight housing,
I really want to change out the tail lights and the headlight housing to the new altezza style, I can find the taillights at procarparts,but I cannot find the headllight housing anywhere, has anyone done this, I callled my dealer and he said it cant be done, that I cannot upgrade to hid in my 2000, as the wiring wont match, well that is fine, I can go with the imatation bulbs, but why cant I get the new looking housing?/

you can upgrade to the new style chrome headlights. you have to find them from a junk yard or check ebay. i did this on my 99. try a search and you should find my post........i did a "how to" with pics.

ok , but do I have to go hid?
I want the new style chrome housing for the headlights, but do I need to go HID?
my dealer said I am not wired to go HID so it wont work, can I put in the new style and go with PIAA's, anyone done this? Is it really hard to switch out the headlight housing? thanks

do you have to take off the front bumper?
I read somewhrere to change the housing you have to do this, that would be areal pain. I found oem at the dealer for 333 each, ouch!!! also found aftermarket for 250, not much of a savings, did most of you go oem or aftermarket? thanks

bren: i got mine off of ebay. paid 110$ total for both of them (non hid). you can go with an aftermarket hid kit if you really want the hid's.
you don't have to take off the front bumper to remove and replace the headlight housings.........do a search. all this info is in my other thread.
