Modded RX330 Projector With Custom Shield
I'm in the process of testing a new custom shield design for an rx330 projector. The purpose of this mod is to maximize the colorful flicker effect produces from an hid projector.
This is done by creating a custom shield with multiple slits. This generates a star-like pattern. As light goes through each slit, it creates a colorful prism line. As the car rides on the road, cutoff beam would bounces up and down, producing an amazing light show.
Here's my custom shield with star-like cutoff step. The shield is made of thin aluminum flash sheet:

Here's how the the cutoff look like during my initial outdoor testing.

Up close, you can see the colorful prism. Car is parked about 40ft away.

I tried it on two projectors to simulate how it would look like with both driver-side and passenge-side.

And of course, here's the video showing the output with colorful flickering effect.
It's cool to look at, but I'm afraid it may be too distracting and drawing attention to cops. So, I don't plan on putting this onto my car just yet.

Thanks. I mounted the custom curved shield using the existing two screws that hold the original oem flat shield:

Btw, pictures above were taken with the prism-tail shield, not the prism-star shield, but the mounting is the same, nothing fancy.

Great work as always Nick.
The video of the color flicker from multiple angles is pretty crazy, but like you said, looks to be too risky to drive around on the streets with without drawing attention from the 5-0.
Thanks guys. Glad you like it. Very tempting to put it on the car. Maybe this will be my summer project.
Yes you have to. If you're at it, you might as well swap out the oem projector lens with a clear lens.

Jesus H, I've contacted you twice on doing a retro for me, and you continue to just do them for "fun".
You could SERIOUSLY, make alot of money if you'd let people like me pay you to please retro their shetty stock IS250 headlights that are non-HID's.
I got a quote from lightwerkz for $1k to do a retro plus paint. Imagine you getting paid that per headlight set!!!
