Default To all you retro fit MASTERS!

Did I screw up? Is there a common rule when it comes to sizing quad projectors? I already did my LS430 retro and am now putting in some bi-xenons in my high beams. I ordered them and found they are bigger than the LS430s I bought the e46's. Is it ok to run bigger projectors for the inners, or is it just wrong? If I've seen correctly, it looks like the inner projectors on the LS460 are bigger than the outers.

other question... do I have to center them? I dont see how I can center these big mother effers IDK, just a little discouraged with the whole thing cause they're a bit hard to work with, but am willing if all that I asked is ok

You need to be careful with which projectors you stick into the high beam area. This is the part on which I am currently having problems with. The LS430s are a 2.5" glass whereas the e46 use a 3", that isnt a problem and most likely you can use them. However you need to make sure that they would it length wise. Behind the driver side high beam area you have the ECU, if the projector is too long you will not be able to use it. I am attempting to use the 745li projectors which are based on the E55, and I am having issues mounting them so that the bulb and plug will it on the backside of the driver side. In this case measuring is key. As far as the lense being slightly bigger that really makes no difference, at least to me.

I forgot about the stupid driverside area! I dont have access to the car to measure, and I have to have these done when it gets out! damned if I do damned if I dont...

Right now I got them bolted to the black housing and they only stick out 1/4" but with plug and bulb it sticks out 1-3/4". Will that fit? I was more having problems with clearance of the projector up front. Where it sits now, its about 1/4 from the lens up front so I assume that I do have room since Im as far forward as possible. what sucks badly about that, is that the pedestal that it sits on is all exposed theres nothing to hid it with the shroud was too big... I might try to cut it up, but probably wont work. any ideas?

Thanks

Yea, tomorrow I'm meeting up with a CL member with a GS to check out clearance... I dont think I have it I dont know how other members are doing it. I asked a fellow member how hes fitting that e46 projector in there, but he hasnt gotten back... I'm wondering if he doesnt want to give me the secret Thanks for all the help and I'll take anything you've got cause man this sucks If I had the time, I'd just order the some smaller ones, but the car is coming out in a few days and need to get this all done right away

thanks again.

oh and IIRC, the projector is 4.5" long.

biggest problem is that it want to point down, so when I adjust it up, it hits the sloping lens :/ but then again, not sure how high I need to go... thats why I have to wait for the car I've been fussing with leveling and forgot that I have nothing to go off of LoL

LOL, few things to remember is that the e46 are a single beam projector thus they are pretty short. I'm meeting up with a friend who does retros as a job so I'm just gonna let him play with it, and either utilize the e55s I have or go with a different bixenon projector that shorter and easier to work with.

DAMN! I wish I got more input about what to use in the high beams before buying them! I did make a thread and couldnt get a straight answer... I went with the e46 cause it was offered to my by a retrofitter on here for sale and use on my high beams, so naturally I figured those were the right ones

Honestly probably the best ones I could've suggested is the Miromoto Mini http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=236

5" total depth as well as a small package makes these much easier to work with I might be going with them if my measurements prove that the e55s will be too close or too hard to attempt to fit.

Well, I finally was able to make a measurement on my buds GS... Looks like there is plenty of space behind the housing to clear the e46, theres actually about an inch to inch and a half clearance. as soon as I get my car out of booth, I'm gonna attempt it and let people know that its possible However, I'm bolting directly to black housing and removing the bowl, so I guess technically its not possible
